Solipsism-The philosophical idea that no one can prove that anything outside of their own mind actually exists.

What proof do I have, beyond my eyes, that anything is real?
Feelings of “life” that spawned in my mind to further remove loneliness.
blissful pearls of thought cling to my brow like a like a shadow to the ground.
Shadow am I. Bound to be something, but more like the absence of something
so shadow am I.

Did my shadow mind make a mouth to breath itself alive?
To thrive “unconfined” in its new creation. I see my hands
tanned and advancing through thick curtains of “air” but I wonder
if underneath their skin is the same stage-prop emptiness that exists
opposite set doors from where believers sit.

My hollow hands “feel” snake skins and Cedar Palms.
Cons of texture kissing my skin under the veil of what they claim to be.
Blame me! I’ve believed! Does what I see not slip to shadow as my eyes turn?
Burning to soft smoke like night fog resting until my gaze sheds light and form again.
Born again from the manger of fog are snake and palm.

Traces of love and family crave my belief as they wear their
charade faces. Parading for me in their circus elephant skins.
Their tightrope stretched malevolent grins pinned to their cardboard cutout forms
born from my ring master mind. Blind to what rests inside.
With eyes tied to what “exists” onstage.
